MultiMiner to Participate in the EU SuperCluster Lapland Geoconference
In today’s world, driven by technological advancements and an ever-increasing demand for sustainable solutions, the European Union (EU) faces a critical challenge: securing a consistent supply of raw materials. These materials, especially critical ones that underpin strategic value chains like e-mobility, batteries, and renewable energy, are essential for a sustainable future. However, the EU’s heavy reliance on a select few countries for these vital resources poses significant risks. To mitigate these challenges, the EU is working toward achieving self-sufficiency, resilience, sustainability, and responsibility in its critical mineral supply.
To spearhead these endeavors, thirteen EU-funded raw materials projects, including the pioneering MultiMiner initiative, are joining forces to orchestrate the “European Union SuperCluster Lapland Geoconference.” Scheduled for October 30th and 31st, 2023, in the picturesque locale of Rovaniemi, Finland, this event aspires to assemble a diverse array of stakeholders. Among them are the European Commission, EU projects, regional authorities, industrial representatives, exploration companies, and other stakeholders, united by a shared commitment to addressing prevailing technological challenges within the raw materials sector.
This SuperCluster event precedes the commencement of the 14th Fennoscandian Exploration and Mining (FEM) 2023 conference, to be held in Levi, Kittilä, Finland. Arrangements are in progress for seamless transport from Rovaniemi to the FEM Conference for participants eager to partake in both events. The FEM conference is renowned as one of Europe’s most significant and largest mining industry gatherings.
The SuperCluster event will feature a dynamic program encompassing 20-minute oral sessions, poster presentations, and dedicated discussion sessions. Rather than relying on keynote talks, the emphasis will be on providing a platform for EU-funded project participants to share their insights and experiences. The call for oral and poster presentations is open now, and we invite you to submit your abstracts by 1st September 2023.
Organisers extend a warm invitation to this pivotal event and eagerly anticipate welcoming attendees to Rovaniemi in October. The collaborative efforts within this SuperCluster hold the promise of ushering in a more resilient and sustainable future for Europe’s raw material supply, with MultiMiner playing a pivotal role in realizing this vision.
